Upcoming Allergy Season ?

Question:
It sounds like the warmer winter may make the upcoming allergy season worse. It might be time to stock up on allergy relief and take precautions before the season actually hits. While this article is geared towards golfers, anyone who suffers from seasonal allergies will be adversely affected.

Answer:
Have already gone through one large bottle of Nasalcrom and one large bottle of antihistamine since the beginning of March. I'm glad I'm going away for a month to somewhere with different allergens. I went to Nasonex which is a prescription drug. It seems to be helping until the sinuses flair up. It is a constant battle, I tell you! You probably already know that! Hopefully you will get a little relief. I find I get relief from the allergies when we go to Las Vegas which is considerably drier than here. But, the dryness triggers other problems so I still get no real relief :( BTW, I have heard that while going elsewhere you still build up antigens against whatever is there so after awhile you will react. It just seems to be a no win situation anymore! I do hope you find a little relief though and have a great time too! I'm going back to London. The allergies aren't nearly as bad for me there as they are here in the desert! Beconase (which is non-scrip over there) alone takes care of the background runny nose. Some of the things I'm allergic to here in the desert aren't native plants, although some are. Year by year the reaction will diminish; that's how the shots work when people get them. I have taken the steroidal nasal sprays in the past, but I must say Nasalcrom
(OTC) seems to work quite effective with no steroidal bad effects. Also, fairly new and fairly unknown is the nasal spray Astelin (sorry, do not know generic name.) It is a spray anti-histamine that works wonderfully. Although you do have the sleepiness side effect (to some extent). I cannot figure out why allergy drug manufacturers are not marketing more of their meds as nasal inhalants. Works better than oral meds. Depends on the meds and and the allergy and side effects are still possible. I cannot use any of the nasal steroids for very long. My nose starts bleeding. When I stop the steroids, the bleeding stops. The Nasalcrom doesn't contribute to any bleeding. Strange....what does the doctor say is causing this constant discharge if you're not allergic to anything? If it were me, I'd try strengthening my mast cells first. (they release the histamine) Our Radio Doc suggests 3k Vit-C w/bioflavinoids for 2 wks, then the new crop of m/cells will have a harder "shell", so to speak. Dr. Weil, & a naturopathic practitioner in Seattle prefer using Quercitin for the same streengthening effect. Weil sez 400mg 2x per day, the naturopath, who claims to have treated thousands of allergy patients sez 500mg 3x per day. The safest nasal spray is that Nasalcrom. One source sez it "stabilizes" the mast cells....gee...as though this were something unique!!
