Allergy Shots for Mold ?

Question:
I was tested a few years ago for allergies and was found to be allergic only to mold. The allergist told me that immunotherapy for mold wasn't very successful, so he didn't put me on allergy shots. Does anyone know whether it's possible to treat mold allergy with immunotherapy?

Answer:
Why waste time with therapy? Most people aren't cured ... they just stop going for their shots eventually. If you can clean up your home enough that you can get 8 hours of non- toxic repair time, you can handle the mold outside with little difficulty. Yes, can be done. Avoidance of mold during the desensitisation period is important. First make sure you are free of mold infections. Anyone with allergies should be on immunotherapy but it rather depends on how you define that term and what your symptoms are before deciding the best approach. Immunotherapy for mold? I can tell when I don't have it in my shot mix. But your dr. is right. It's not one of the more effective serums -- lots of molds out there. One point: Dog, cat and dust mite? can degrade the quality of other ingredients. So you MIGHT ask for a separate shot, either for your worst allergen, or for any of those degraders. I've never found an allergist who would do this, without charging full price for the second shot.
