Question:
I have some allergy problems (not from perfume) I was in San Diego for
business last week and I didnt have any coughing, or stuffy nose or anything
that had to do with allergies. The minute I get back to Georgia, it starts all
over again. could it be Pine Tree's?
Answer:
The two areas have entirely different climates; consequently they have almost
totally different vegetation. Your allergies could be from a number of
things---even mold from humidity! I had zero allergies when I lived in California---3 different locations.
Yet, in the midwest my allergies are the worst.
Unlike most people here, I have few allergies whatsoever in Florida either.
But all I have to do is get back to Missouri or Wisconsin and the allergies
resume in full force.
While in California, I found out that I'm allergic to ice plants, but only
when walking very close to them. *shrug* I'd sneeze each time I walked by
one, but living within a block of the levies didn't make me sneeze. I live about 60 miles north of Atlanta. It is pretty common knowledge that
this part of Ga. is nasty for allergies. There are many things that cause
them, and different things at different times of the year can be the
culprits. They told me that pine pollen is not a true allergen and started me on house dust
shots for two years - then pine pollen season rolled through again and I was sicker
than a dog. They added pine pollen to my injections and behold - no more
migraines. I did, however, get a migraine after each allergy shot. They said
*that* wasn't supposed to happen. Maybe all of this was a precursor to FM and no
one knew it. My cfd friend said we should all read the book, "The Highly Sensitive
Person. How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You" by Elaine N. Aron (you
should see how I typed that - my dyslexic mind didn't even see the errors.)
