Common Symptoms for Dair Allergy?

Question:
I have 21 month old twins sons. One has a known severe peanut allergy. He is the one that I am starting to wonder about having a dairy allergy. He coughs. Not a lot, and not all day, but every day he coughs. He is my big milk drinker. I'm wondering if the two things could be tied together? I've taken him to the doctor, and he wasn't much help - said it was post nasal drip - but what is causing the post nasal drip? Anyway, I thought I'd take it to the web, and see if anyone out there had any similar reactions.

Answer:
In our 2-y-old we've found that post-nasal drip goes with wheat. And also seasonal hayfever. Maybe your only way of being sure is to try 2 weeks of no dairy ? Could you fool him by very gradually replacing milk with coconut milk, then maintaining him on coconut milk for 2 weeks (or rice milk, or soy if your family isn't prone to soy allergies) ? Of course, long term you'd have to think about calcium substitutes etc, but at least you'd know (maybe!). has anyone thought of asthma? Sometimes the only symptom of asthma is a cough. My son's asthma was diagnosed at age 7 when he had a cough that wouldn't go away. Dairy can be an asthma trigger in some people. People with allergies have a higher incidence of asthma.
