Question:
Oh gosh I'm suffering so much with sinus and itchy eyes - I can't breath!
The thing that concerns me is when I have a sneezing attack (often enough) I
sometimes feel like my ges. sac is going to pop. I try not to hold in the
sneezes so I don't apply pressure but still it happens. I called the RE (I don't have an appt until the 27th and you know I'm
getting frustrated with keeping him for the pregnancy - he seems too busy
for me since he concentrates on IF treatments all day long and saves his OB
appts until night when he's exhausted - anyway - that's another story) - his
nurse told me of two meds I can get so I went to the Rx yesterday for eye
drops - fine this is temp relief - but I was surprised to find that he
ordered a DECONG spray instead of an allergy med!!!! I wanted something like
Benadryl or some other med to take so when I called back - the nurse said
that I shouldn't take any meds to be on safe side and to put up with it
until allergy season is over!!!!!
This can't be good for my twins - all the stress of me sneezing and coughing
and blowing nose and not being able to sleep more than 2 hrs at a time- now
my throat's starting to hurt and that's all I need - I'm easily prone to
strep.
I got scared yesterday a little because my stomach wasn't as big and I
didn't feel pregnant (I think I'm losing weight with all this) - but this
morning I surely felt preg after my sneezing attack!
If anyone knows of a med for allergies sold in US that is OTC that is known
to be safe for pregos please let me know because my dad is coming to visit
soon--- my sis wanted to send bee pollen tablets saying they're natural-but
interestingly I was telling her that it wasn't safe for me because I read
that somewhere. I know benadryl was safe for me to take when I got hives
back in US when I was ttc so but I'm not sure anymore what's safe at this
stage..
Answer:
My OB said that I could safely take benadryl, sudafed, tylenol cold, and use
saline nasal spray. Although they've try to convince me that they are harmless, I still feel
weird about taking drugs, though. So, if you want the drugless approach, I
have a friend that swears by accupuncture for sinus and allergy problems
(during pgcy)--it has really helped her; she says that she couldn't sleep at
night until she got it done. You can call your local accupuncture
school/school of oriental medicine and get a student to do it (for a lower
price).
---I also have had this for 3 days. my eyes water and i have
drainage down the back of my throat. Benadryl IS safe to take in pregnancy.
