temporary "cold" symptoms - signs of a possible allergy?

Question:
I guess I've been pretty lucky compared to many of you out there. Except for one bad case of hives when I was a kid, I've never had really strong signs of having any allergies. That said, one thing I've found to be happening to me with apparently increasing frequency are "phony" colds. That is, I'll show symptoms that one normally associates with the early stages of a cold (typically, a combination of a mild sore throat, a bit of a fever, and some congestion in the lungs and/or sinuses). However, rather than a real cold developing, these relatively mild symptoms go away after a day or two without having intensified. Could I possibly be showing a comparatively weak reaction to something in my enviroment?

Answer:
I believe so. When I lived in Atlanta, GA, my glands use to swell for no reason. The rest of my body would feel fine. But my glands would swell. This was a reaction to something. I don't live in Atlanta any more, and my glands don't swell any more. Yes, that is a possibility. And given your description, it sounds like a good one. Has your dr given any other possible reasons for your symptoms? I've not talked to a doctor about this, mainly because the symptoms have seemingly never been severe enough to warrant it . Oddly enough, very recently (in fact, after I posted the message) I discovered I had a cyst in my sinus cavity, which I gather is common with allergy sufferers. This discovery was a biproduct of a test I had for a completely different ailment.
