Question:
This doesn't have anything to do with kids. But, I thought maybe you
folks could help me.
Two days ago, I got a tetanus shot. Yesterday, my upper arm was sore. I
expected that. But, today my arm HURTS and I have a big goose egg. Is this
normal? Should I go back to my Dr?
Answer:
I would call your doctor just to double check, but this sounds like a
normal reaction to a tetnus shot. I had a tetanus booster a few years ago and it hurt much worse than other
shots I've gotten in the last few years (allergy injections, flu vaccines,
etc). My arm did hurt for a few days afterward but I don't recall a "goose
egg" swelling inside. Something similar happened to me, complete with redness and a great deal
of pain. My doctor looked at it, and told me it was too big a reaction,
and I should not get any more tetanus shots. But DON'T take that as what YOU ought to do! Definately check with your doctor.
